Cochem to St Goar??

Hi, thanks to everyone who has answered me so far but I have changed my mind again!!!

I think I will get the shuttle from Frankfurt Haan to Cochem which I understand is a lovely place to visit , stay there for 2 nights then go to St Goar.

My questions then!-

will not be arriving into Cochem until the early hours will this be ok with hotels (obviously I will book ahead)

any recomedation for place to stay in cochem, I am a single traveller so I don%26#39;t want to pay a fortune but would like something traditional.

How will I get to hotel from shuttle?, is it a small town??

Is the train from Cochem to St Goar the best mode of transport, is there any other options??

Thank you in anticipation

You should check with your hotel about their front desk hours - tell them your arrival time before booking.

Cochem is fairly small. You can walk to many hotels from the Cochem Bahnhof (train station) stop where the shuttle drops you. Pension Dapper is only a block down. The winery/inn Rademacher is near the station as well. But even in the old town center, hotels are only a 10-15 min walk from the station at most. The upscale Alte Thorschenke is one such example. Just don%26#39;t pick some place out of town or across the river (Cochem-Cond) or way up in the hills if you plan to walk.

Haus Andreas is toward the far end of the old town but if you are carrying a modest load it%26#39;s walkable and is quite reasonable; here%26#39;s one of Ben%26#39;s reviews:

Their German website has contact info - fax, phone, address:

Train to St. Goar is the (only) way to go. Change trains in Koblenz. Standard fare is 19 Euros but for the same price you can get a Rheinland Pfalz single daypass to travel further that day within the region if you plan to do so.
