My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon to Munich, and are looking for some recommendations for our hotel. We want to be in or very close to the city center, as well as rail/subway transport (we won%26#39;t have a car). We want a homebase to enjoy the city as well as travel out to the countryside and see the castles and Romantic Road. Any tips are greatly appreciated!

The the Hotel Torbrau, meets all you criteria. Close to the S bahn stop, minutes to the Marienplatz and Hofbrauhaus. Nice hotel, one of the oldest in Munich and has been redone.

Also, if you are traveling to Fussen to see Neuschwanstein stay at the Villa Jagerhaus. Excellent views of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles from rooms 62 or 52, corner rooms.

If you plan to stay in rothenburg, look at Hotel Spitzweg for really grat hospitality.

If you enjoy plush bedding, a modern design, great service and a lovely spa and pool, try the Sofitel Bayerpost. We found it wonderfully romantic, quiet, luxurious and convenient.
