travel from Frankfurt to ?????

My wife and I will be in Frankfurt from Sept 18 to 27, any ideas on trips to Eastern Europe from Frankfurt? Looking for a cheaper place than Germany, if possible.

Prague would be my personal favorite.

You can fly inexpensively to many places in eastern Europe on discount airlines. However, the Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is usually a poor place from which to do this. Stuttgart ( www.stuttgart-tourist.de ) is a hub for at least two discount airlines, Germanwings ( www.germanwings.com ) and TUIfly ( www.tuifly.com ). Other airport possibilities are (Frankfurt) Hahn with Ryanair, Nuremberg, and Bonn/Cologne. If you happen to use Stuttgart%26#39;s airport, the world%26#39;s second largest beer festival is there, Cannstatter Volksfest ( www.cannstatter-volksfest.de ), from 25Sept to 11Oct, and it is also the world%26#39;s largest fun festival with many rides.

Also, when I used to fly from Saudi Arabia to Germany with Lufthansa, I could continue on to other German destinations on Lufthansa for free. You might see if you can do the same.

Germany can be pretty reasonable. Search for good priced hotel rooms at hrs.de (prices vary wildly, depending on demand, so check many towns) and food is not so expensive unless you go to a fancy restaurant. Regional trains have inexpensive deals, detailed elsewhere on the Germany forums. Don%26#39;t rule out staying in Germany. What it will cost to get to another country could go very far in paying for seeing Germany.
