Nearby towns

Hi

I%26#39;m visting Dusseldorf in December for a couple of nights. As I%26#39;ve been a few times already does anyone know and nice towns / villages nearby that might be worth visiting for the day and can reached by train from Dusseldorf ?

A small fortified town, now a suburb of Dormagen.

You can travel by train to Dormagen and from there by bus. Or by train and bus to Düsseldorf-Urdenbach (near Benrath palace), a short walk plus ferry across the Rhine to Zons.

Not exactly a full day trip (small and close to Düsseldorf).

A full day trip would e.g. be from Düsseldorf to the Middle Rhine Valley.

Zons was already mentioned. Small village nearby Dusseldorf.

What about:

- Cologne

- Duisburg (Inner harbour/Innenhafen - modern architecture)

- Bochum (for example Zeche Zollverein http://www.zollverein.de/)

- Bonn

- Aachen
