munich to salzburg local trains

I will be arriving munich by air on 8-28-09 and plan to travel on to salzburg and return on 9-1-09,both weekdays.The normal train fares seem very high,and have read that local trains are less costly.My departing flight out of munich departs at 12:30pm.

Is there bus service from munich to salzburg and would this be cost effective?

Also are the train fares from the airport or downtown munich? Any info or links to fares would be helpful. Thanks.

There is a scheduled but private bus shuttle service from Munich Airport to Salzburg Airport (not city!).
