Munich- Nuremberg

We plan to stay in Munich this August for 5 days, then stay in Nuremberg for a few days. We don%26#39;t need to buy an express ticket, as these appear to be very expensive. Can we buy the 29 euro Bayern ticket? Then travel for 2 people would be 14.5 euros each one way -is that correct? Would the local train be direct or would we need to change? Or could we catch a coach/ bus direct Munich- Nuremberg? I understand that the coach station is in the suburbs %26amp; we are staying in the centre of Munich- so maybe the train would be easier. I have also found out that we leave Munich on a Bank Holiday- Assumption Day- will that effect coach %26amp; train timetables ?

Any suggestions of the cheapest way of arriving in Nuremberg would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Cheapest way is to use regional trains on a Bayern-Ticket. EUR 28,00 for 2-5 persons if bought from a ticket machine.

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

From: Munich

To: Nuremberg

and select as means of transport %26quot;only local transport%26quot;.

Bayern-Ticket is valid

Mo-Fr: from 9am till 3am next day

Sa,Su and public holidays: from midnight till 3am next day

Bayern-Ticket covers besides the regional trains also S-Bahn, U-Bahn (metro), trams and buses in both cities.

Right about the Bavaria Ticket.

%26gt;Or could we catch a coach/ bus direct Munich- Nuremberg?

No, you cannot. With very few exceptions, buses in Germany are either local (connecting places to the nearest train station) or are inetrnational (meaning that you cannot buy a ticket for a domestic trip).

Thanks very much for clarifying this for me.

Regional trains from Munich to Nuremberg travel still twice as fast than what a bus could (or better is allowed to) drive.

If you%26#39;re travelling on a bank holiday - Assumption Day is one - then the Bayern Ticket is valide the whole day, not only from 9 am on.

It is also valid on the S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams and buses in Munich and Nuremberg.
