Hi all,
we%26#39;ll be attempting to drive from lux to munich in a day (it%26#39;ll be about 7 hours road time in my car) and will need to break it up with a stop here and there (probably two).
The route will take us near Kaiserslautern and Stuttgart but these places dont look too attractive from the photos i%26#39;ve seen on flickr.
Does anyone have any suggestions for nice quaint towns along this route that will be good for a stop and a bite?
Cheers,
Kite.

A few possibilities along the way near Stuttgart:
Maulbronn just north of Pforzheim with the best preserved medieval monastery north of the Alps (in www.schloesser-und-gaerten.de ); Esslingen ( www.esslingen.de ) with its excellent well preserved medieval center is not too far off the A8; Holzmaden, the town isn%26#39;t great, but Urweltmuseum Hauff ( www.urweltmuseum.de ) is excellent with its local fossils of dinosaurs from the quarries nearby, just before ascending the Swabian Alb; Blaubeuren (probably www.blaubeuren.de )nice town with the Blautopf (deep blue pool in the mouth of a flooded cave, source of the Blau (Blue) River, with the old monastery and its church nearby; and Ulm ( www.ulm.de ) with the cathedral with its record height church spire, climbable if desired.
