I apologize for being such a dolt and not being able to figure this out at www.deutschebahn.de. A bit embarassing. I%26#39;ve also searched the TA posts and haven%26#39;t come up with an answer. Anyway, husband and I will be traveling from Munich Hbf to Sargans on 25 August (we have a Swiss card that will pick up in Sargans for the leg into Zurich). I%26#39;m getting a full retail of 157 Euro pp (1st, 140 E for second) on the DB site. I%26#39;m seeing lots of discount cards/fares and so on but can%26#39;t seem to get any of those to apply to this journey.
Any recommendations on a way to reduce the full fare price for this journey? Thanks so much!

Hi!
I just tried the route at
www.bahn.de
and got a price of 48E, 2nd class, 25 Aug. It departs at 09.19 and has two changes.
Really weird that you got such a bad price!
The discounted fares usually go on sale at 89 days out, but they sell out quickly. I%26#39;m not sure that you%26#39;ll find any of those left!
Have fun!!

Strange prices:
Normal fares 2nd class Munich Hbf to Sargans:
regional trains only: EUR 48,00 1)
EC + regional train: EUR 55,20 2)
1) cheapest option
a) Bavaria Ticket EUR 28,00 for both of you
for the part from Munich to Lindau.
b) standard ticket Lindau to Sargans EUR 17,20 per person
Thus EUR 62,40 for both of you together in total. You can buy both tickets on spot at Munich Hbf.
2) fastest connection with 3:38
For these you can get also discounted specials if you buy now
dep 07:12 EUR 39,00
dep 12:34 EUR 39,00
dep 16:34 EUR 49,00 3)
dep 18:34 EUR 39,00
3) I would not recommend to buy a special for EUR 49,00 is the standard fare is EUR 55,20. The specials are only valid for the connection bought for. No change. No refund.

Thanks to both of your for your help! Yes , the pricing is strange and thanks so much for all your work on this. I agree that going with the specials seems like a bad idea, the combo of Bayern Ticket and Lindau-Sargans looks perfect.
