fussen or Pinswang or schwangau

We will be spending 3 days in early September exploring the areas around Fuessen, Pinswang and the surrounding lakes.

Question 1 - We plan on staying at either Fussen or Schwangau/hoehenschwangau or Pinswang. Since all 3 places are quite small, we were concerned about limited dining/supper options. Fuessen will probably have the most dining options and not so lonely in the evenings. Pinswang will probably be the cheapest to stay at but quite lonely in the evenings. Is it easy to commute using public transport between these 3 places in the evening around 6 - 9pm. Any suggestions please ??

Question 2 . We will be flying to Munich from Paris, as per the DB timetable the train ride takes 3.20 hours from Munich airport to Fussen. This seems way too long for the relatively short distance. Are there any quicker ways to get to Fussen from Munich airport. Any suggestions please ??

I always recommend staying at Villa Jaegerhaus in Hohenschwangau. It is an excellent small hotel with close-up views of lit-up by night Neuschwanstein Palace from your room and possibly from your bed. For my review, click on my name. Another reviewer has also taken some great photos of it. The restaurant in the associated hotel across the road is very good, I doubt that you would find better in this area.

We%26#39;ve also in the past stayede in Schwangau, and if you have any views of Neuschwanstein, they are pretty distant ones. We now only stay at Villa Jaegerhaus.

I don%26#39;t really know about public transportation (buses) in this area, but taxis are pretty inexpensive as distances aren%26#39;t much. Fuessen is the only one of these places that really can be called a town, with of course much more to do, but not those great views of Neuschwanstein.

The only way you could possibly do Munich Airport to Fuessen quicker is by driving, and I doubt that you would save that much time.

Go to %26quot;Search%26quot; on the top of the Germany forum page, and enter Pinswangen. Some time ago, someone commented fairly extensively (favorably) about it and the walk from P. to Fuessen.
