Hi! I am traveling from Munich (Oktoberfest) to Frankfurt in September. We will arrive mid-day on Friday and are flying out mid-day on Saturday. I have several questions regarding travel, what to do, where to stay etc.
1. What is the best way to travel from Munich to Frankfurt? I have found several direct train routes, roughly 3-4 hrs.
2. What is the best area of the city to stay so that sights, nightlife, restaurants, shopping are all within walking distance? Any hotel recommendations?
3. What are the highlights of the city that should not be missed during a quick trip?
4. How early should we arrive at the airport to fly back to US?
Thanks so much for any advice you can give us!

I guess I will answer in reverse.
4. I like to be at the airport 3 hours before departure time to insure that there is enough time and that I don%26#39;t feel rushed
3. Highlights of Frankfurt sort of depends on your interests, but these are the ones I usually suggest here on the forum:
* Holocaust Memorial Wall
* Kaiserdom
* St. Leonhards
* Alte Nikolai
* Römerplatz
* Eschenheimer Turm
* Alte Oper
* Main Tower Observation Deck
Google them for good descriptions. TA unfortunately does not have them written up very well.
2. Sachsenhausen Applewine Pub district will be a great place to eat. For a hotel, you might look at Royal Hotel, Ibis Centrum, Miramar Hotel, Excelsior, Hotel Maingau, or just use www.hrs.com to find something in your budget range.
1. Abalada is the train expert, so you should get an answer soon on this one.
