Bad Waldsee to Konstanz

We shall be taking a train from Bad Waldsee or nearby down to Konstanz. I have looked at the DB website and can%26#39;t get a price nor indeed am I sure if it entails tranis and schiffs? Could someone put me straight? Is there any special train fare deals that I could be availing of, we travel on the 15th September - two adults one way.

As both Bad Waldsee and Konstanz are in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, you can use a group (2-5 people) Baden-Wuerttemberg train ticket for this journey which also includes buses, trams, and U-bahns within this German state for 28€. The problem if doing this all by train is that your trip will be much longer as you will have to go past the west end of the lake and head back east to Konstanz. There are catamaran boats from Friedrichshafen to Konstanz, and also a ferry from Meersburg to Konstanz which are both much shorter, but I doubt that these boats are covered by the B-W ticket. Meersburg is not on the train line but about 3km away, so a taxi or walking would have to be used, or a bus from a further point such as Friedrichshafen. Two places for boat information are www.bsb-online.com and www.der-katamaran.de .

Also, you can use a day card for the Euregio Bodensee. The necessary 2 land zones B and C covers also the trip from Meersburg to Konstanz is 41€ for a group ticket, 52€ for all zones including the boat trip. www.euregiokarte.com

Oh, I forgot to mention that train information can be found at www.bahn.de , then change to English near the top of the page. The B-W day train ticket can be used only after 9AM on weekdays, and no fast long distance trains (ECs, ICs and ICEs) can be used. I doubt if there are very many on these routes, but if you check %26quot;only local transportation%26quot; only valid means of transportation using this ticket will be shown.

Single ticket from Bad Waldsee to Friedrichshafen via Aulendorf is EUR 6,10 (bodo tariff price level 8).

From Friedrichshafen you could use the catamaran to Konstanz. These connections list with the DB timetable %26quot;KAT%26quot; as product. This trip is EUR 9,50 per person.

…wikipedia.org/wiki/…93Konstanz

Thus EUR 31,20 combined. Certainly the most interesting way.

A cheaper alternative is to use connections including the StädteSchnellbus (city express bus) Friedrichshafen - Konstanz (bus line #7394) or Ravensburg - Konsatz (bus line #7373).

bahn.de/db_zb_alb_bodensee/view/special/stae…

Both bus lines use the ferry Meersburg to Konstanz-Staad. Bad Waldsee to Meersburg is covered by the EUR 6,10 bodo tariff ticket.

The express bus from Meersburg to Konstanz is EUR 4,80 (not 100% sure if this is really the correct price).

Always an option train and/or bus to Meersburg. Than ferry to Konstanz-Staad plus city bus to Konstanz center. This costs EUR 4,50 per person.

2 x 6,10 + 2 x 4,50 = EUR 21,20 together

Baden-Württemberg Ticket does not cover these 2 city express buses (between Meersburg and Konstanz) nor the ferry Meersburg - Konstanz-Staad nor the catamaran Friedrichshafen - Konstanz.
