Flying into Frankfurt, will arrive early morning, Fri 8.28 or Sat 8.29, Each of us has been to Germany but not together. Do we drive or take trains? We have driven in quite a few European countries, but want your input. We want to include at least these but welcome suggestions:
Heidelberg, Rothenburg, Garmisch, Munich, Salzburg.
Will fly out of Munich either Monday, Sept 7th or the next day. Marriott Platinum member and can use points in Heidelberg, Munich and Salzburg, your thoughts on these hotels appreciated. Thanks

Bamberg is delightful. There are many other options but we know nothing of your travel interests.
It seems wasteful to drive when a group of 2-5 can ride the regional trains throughout Bavaria (starting from Kahl, a few miles east of Frankfurt) all the way to the Austrian border on a %26quot;Bayern Ticket%26quot; (Bavarian day pass) for 28 Euros.
If you were going somewhere without a train station, maybe a car would make sense, but you aren%26#39;t.
Heidelberg isn%26#39;t in Bavaria; you could get a %26quot;Baden-Wuerttemberg%26quot; ticket for travel from the Bavarian border - Würzburg is a border town - to Heidelberg. It%26#39;s about the same price.

I neglected to mention that Salzburg is included in the Bayern ticket.
