My H %26amp; I are thinking of visiting family in Poland this Sept. and found some cheap flights into Germany. H suggested going to Octoberfest - we%26#39;re beer drinkers, but not big party animals (anymore) - is Octoberfest worth the visit - or is it just one big crazy party? thanks! ;)

If you are a bit older and wiser I suggest you bust a phat one at the beergardens or outdoor cafes... i am from munich and go every now and then as its just so cumbersome... but why not check it out... but for me the many beergardens in munich and environs is much more pleasant....

oh..and if you plan on being in munich during octoberfest and dont have accomodation you wont find much under 200 euros a night if at all... unless you go camping...

Caet: Just do what I have done the past several years, as I am also not the big drunkard, party nut I was in the 80%26#39;s %26amp; 90%26#39;s... People just sti, chat, listen to the local Bavarian Music, and enjoy one another%26#39;s company in the afternoon. During the week, from about 1200 to 1600 hrs is the best, in my opinion.

My husband and I went last year for the first time. We are not beer drinkers but had a fabulous time. The party atmosphere was exhilirating.There%26#39;s so much to enjoy-music, food, rides, and watching people having a great time.

After going myself, I%26#39;ve always felt us Americans have always had the wrong idea of Oktoberfest. It%26#39;s not the big drunkard fest that it%26#39;s made out to be in movies and TV. It%26#39;s more of a carnival atmosphere with beer drinking. While it%26#39;s true the Friday and Saturday nights get a bit crazier, it never gets out of hand. If you head there during the day it%26#39;s really relaxing and you can even take a spin on a few rides - I suggest before you hit the tents? ;)
I%26#39;d 100% recommend heading to Oktoberfest and not to worry about it being a big crazy party!
