This happens when you pick up the car. You will have to tell the agent that (1) you will take the car into Poland; (2) that you will return it in (any city) Germany. Your choice of makes and models will be very limited. Mercedes, VW are defintely out. Check whether you can get a Ford Transit.

One thing about a Ford Transit, they are too tall to fit in parking garages, and also in general too large to fit in many stalls in parking lots. Having used one 8 years ago to travel about Germany and Austria, parking was in many places a real problem. And places where to park them was never clearly signposted.

Also, I don%26#39;t know if driving in Poland has improved since I was there about ten years ago. We saw the results of many accidents, even the bus I was on in Krakow was involved in an accident, and on the road between Krakow and Zakopane I observed one reason why there were so many accidents, people pulling out to pass on roads with one lane each way on blind curves or hills where you couldn%26#39;t see the on-coming traffic. Hopefully, things have now changed for the better.

Thanks very much for the information. Very helpful in my search.
