Nuremberg and Bavaria. Tickets and Tours. Help!!!

There are two of us and we are staying in Nuremberg for a week.

Is there a ticket for more than 1 day ( 2,3,4,5,7 days )which we can use in trains or buses to visit different cities in Bavaria? (Wurzburg,Bamberg,Rothenburg ob.d.T.,Dinkelsbuhl,Regensburg,Ansbach ).Or do we have to buy 1 ticket for 1 day for 1 destination?

Is there any 1 day tour for 2 or more cities from Nuremberg? Which is the best way to visit the cities?

Any 1 day tour for both Rothenburg and Dinkelsbuhl?

I have read about 1 day tour by bus for Rothenburg by OVF. What about Dinkelsbuhl? How can we go there?

Is there any 1 day river boat tour or cruise from Nuremberg to Regenburg? If yes, where is the embarkation post and how can we go there from Hpf?

Is it worth having a stop in any interesting cities going to or coming back from Wurzburg or Bamberg?

We would appreciate any recommendations and information about tickets, fares schedules and destinations in Bavaria. Please help!

Thanks in advance

Nuremberg, Rothenburg, Ansbach and Dinkelsbühl are all inside the VGN local public transport network.

see map

bahn.de/regional/view_nav4/mdb/pv/dbregio/au…

For 2 persons buy a VGN %26quot;TagesTicket Plus%26quot;.

for the city of Nuremberg EUR 6,60

for the whole VGN network EUR 14,20

TagesTicket Plus is a day ticket. If bought on Saturday it is also good for Sunday.

VGN tickets cover all local public transport:

- regional trains (RB,RE)

- S-Bahn

- U-Bahn (metro)

- trams

- buses

- - -

To Bamberg, Würzburg and Regensburg you can use the Bavaria Ticket. Again a local public transport day ticket, but now for all of Bavaria. EUR 28,00 for 2-5 persons. Validity time is however a bit more restricted:

Mo-Fr: from 9am till 3am next day

Sa,Su: from midnight till 3am next day

- - -

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

From: Nuremberg

To: Rothenburg ob der Tauber

To: Dinkelsbuehl

To: Wuerzburg

and select as means of transport %26quot;only local transport%26quot;. This is important as VGN tickets and the Bavaria Ticket do not cover far distance trains like IC/EC or ICE.

Bahnhof (Bf) = train station

Hauptbahnhof (Hbf) = main train station

You cannot just omit the dots of the umlauts.

It%26#39;s either Dinkelsbühl or Dinkelsbuehl. Also

http://www.dinkelsbuehl.de

Destination with Dinkelsbühl is Dinkelsbühl Bahnhof - albeit no trains to this station anymore. You could e.g. combine Ansbach and Dinkelsbühl.

%26gt; Or do we have to buy 1 ticket for 1 day for 1 destination?

Not exactly per destination but per area (VGN/Bavaria).

%26gt; Is there any 1 day tour for 2 or more cities from Nuremberg? Which is the best way to visit the cities?

You could visit the tourist office in Nuremberg and ask/check for leaflets there. But all the places you listed are at least served hourly by public transport.

%26gt; Is there any 1 day river boat tour or cruise from Nuremberg to Regenburg?

Only on parts of these routes. There are many locks on this route (crossing the European water divide). E.g. Nuremberg to Forchheim.

%26gt; If yes, where is the embarkation post and how can we go there from Hpf?

For the Neptun boats:

maps.google.de/maps/ms…

DB timetable

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

From: Nürnberg Hbf

or just

From: N

To: Nürnberg Rezatweg/NPS

(NPS is for Neptun PersonenSchiffahrt)

%26gt; Is it worth having a stop in any interesting cities going to or coming back from Wurzburg or Bamberg?

Between Würzburg and Nuremberg you can visit Iphofen. It is however no problem to spent a day in either Würzburg or Bamberg itself.

Thanks a lot. Your suggestions are very helpful.

How can we go from the airport to the hbf? What about the tickets?

Thanks again

www.vgn.de/stadtverkehre/stilisiert_n_fue/

Subway U2 connects the airport with the city (including the main station)

What do you mean, what about the tickets? You need a normal city-zone ticket

%26gt; What about the tickets?

VGN single ticket for Nuremberg is EUR 1,90
