Can someone please suggest if there is a grocery shop in or near frankfurt airport? I want to buy baby food and have 4 hours in airport..so I can even travel by metro to some station. Would appreciate advice..

There are grocery stores in the airport. If you want to come into the city, this is an easy 11 min. ride. If you stay on for 2 more stops, you will get off at the Hauptwache. There is a large department store there called Kaufhof and they have an extensive grocery store on the underground level.
The S-bahn costs 3.70€ one way.

thanks a lot. So you mean that one can buy from airport itself or else board a train to go to another stop and buy. Which option do you suggest...I am open to both. How far is the metro stop that you are suggesting and also is the grocery store close to the metro station? Pls if possible give exact details like the exit that one should take to reach the grocery store

Yes, the grocery store is in the airport.
I did give you exact details. You get on the S-bahn at the airport and ride it into Frankfurt and get off at the Hauptwache. The Kaufhof Department store is right there, in fact it has an entrance on the underground level of the S-bahn station. The groceries are on this level.
It is up to you to decide if you have enough time to come into the city or not. Will you have bags, will you have your baby with you, is the 4 hours the amount of time you have between flights or total time figured for sightseeing?

No I will be alone. Am travelling to US and dont trust US baby food. Also I dont have to go anywhere else as I have been to frankfurt many times.
Also if possible let me know about grocery stores at airport. As I have to buy around 40 bottles is it cheaper to buy in city instead of airport?
what are the opening hours of grocery stores?

Bornheimgirl has given you good information on where/how to buy the baby food. But - - -
Have you considered the implications (from a security and food safety point of view) of carrying 40 bottles of baby food or shipping them in the hold of the plane? You certainly won%26#39;t be able to check through your luggage from wherever you start if you want to put the stuff with your checked baggage; and they won%26#39;t let you carry it on the plane.
I won%26#39;t comment on the safety of US-made baby food, except that many of us have raised their children on the stuff and they (and their children) are fine.

Importing baby food to the states is kind of silly. There is nothing wrong with the food there.
Trying to carry 40 jars of baby food with you is going to be a nightmare. It will probably have to go in your checked luggage. You know the US frowns on lots of food imports, so you might want to check the US Dept. of State regulations about bringing in this stuff.
I thought you just wanted a couple of jars to use on the plane.
How were you planning on carrying all of this along with your baby too? I think buying a couple of jars at the airport is your best bet and the easiest thing for you to do in the long run.

Thanks for all your help. Yes, I have checked with US authorities and have carried the food in the past as well. Have been carrying swedish food till date but as am not planing to go to sweden so am relying on german baby food.
I agree that many kids are raised on american baby food and they do fine. But if I have a better option for my children then why should I go for the stuff whose quality standards are even frowned upon by the local US FDA autorities.
Also american baby food doesnt have that much of variety so....
but anyhow...you have been a great help.
really it is such a boon to be in touch with you al destination experts!

Swisstrip: Yes, there is a pretty nice grocery store in the airport, I think it%26#39;s a Spar store, good sized, but haven%26#39;t looked for baby food so I don%26#39;t know how extensive their selection is.
I seem to think it%26#39;s on the lower level in the airport, maybe past where the car rental places are, you may need to ask about it.
Good Luck
