Hi,
This was posted on Rail Travel Forum a few days ago:
%26quot;Many of the tickets allow up to five people travel on the one ticket but there are a few new rules to stop abuse. Have a look at the German rail website www.db.de%26quot;
As I could not find anything about the new rules on DB website I asked the poster to elaborate, but she/he does not care to respond.
Anyone can point me to the new rules?
Hans

I%26#39;m not aware of really new rules.
Sometime ago an additional rule was however introduced that you have to write the name of the owner of a Länder-Ticket on it. With the mini group version you write the name of the person who travels the longest route on the ticket. The conductor is allowed to check the ID (ID card or passport) of the person who%26#39;s name is on the ticket.
A measure to prevent the resale/passing of used Länder-Tickets to a 3rd party. Allowed was this however also not before.

I just used a Bavaria one a couple of weeks ago and when the conductor came around there was nothing said and we hadn%26#39;t written our name on it or anything. Maybe cause we are all older we look more trustworthy??

This will depend on the conductor. Some will force you to write your name on it on spot.
But in theory they could also confiscate your Bavaria Ticket and throw you out of the train or make you to buy new/other tickets.

Thanks. That puts my mind at rest
Hans
