Help! - reccommend a SAFE, CHEAP Convienient place to stay.

Hi,

I%26#39;m looking for a convienient place to stay that is %26quot;central%26quot; to major sightseeing places, safe (2 female travelers) and easy to get to and from the Airport.

Thank you so much!!

Berlin is usually safe (within reason). It doesn%26#39;t have one centre, but several central places, and in general, once one stays within the inner city %26quot;Ring%26quot;, or has good access to public transportation, they are central.

There are also two active international airports in Berlin, so %26quot;easy to get from/to the airport%26quot; is too vague. In any case, due to the efficient public transportation system.

You may try these two hotels which are for women only (might make you feel safer). Both are in good locations (the Intermezzo in a better location)

Coming from Vancouver you are more likely to be landing at Tegel TXL, as Schönefeld SXF is still mainly used by European budget operators.

Tegel is nearer the city centres(s) than Schönefeld so taxi a lot cheaper ((around 20€ probably) against around 35€ minimum from Schönefeld; but Schönefeld has good rail /S-Bahn service (Tegel only buses).

I%26#39;ve stayed with female friends (and on my own several times) in Etap Hotel Potsdamer Platz which is central and cheap. It%26#39;s actually on Anhalter Strasse not at Potsdamer Platz (which is about 7-10 min walk); S-Bahn station Anhalter Bahnhof on corner of the street but many sights walking distance.

Hi,

I%26#39;m coming in from Amsterdam so most likely landing in the Schönefeld airport. (sorry forgot to put this in there in the intial post)

I would highly recommend the Circus Hostel. We stayed there last week in a shared bath twin and paid 28 Euro per person. You can also get a room with private bath for a bit more, still a bargain. We are an older couple and found it to be an excellent value, safe, and clean. We took the train from Amstersdam to Berlin and flew out of Tegal and it was very easy with public transportation.

Check out the reviews.

we stayed at the Generater Hostel in East Berlin. Despite it being a hostel I must say that my husband and I are both over 60 but the beds were clean, the food was fine and the water was hot for the showers so all in all it was great. AD there is a RING SYSTEM on the trains were if you catch the number 42 it takes you to Landsberger Allee and the hostel is just over the bridge from the station

Happy travelling!

I can recommend this hostel- you%26#39;ll see my review there from last year;

It%26#39;s directly opposite the metro station, and about 10-15minutes walk from Alexanderplatz from where you can catch the trains all over Berlin. We were in the city for just three days and found we were able to cover a lot of ground from that base. Heading up the road brings you into Prenzlauer Berg where there are bars %26amp; restaurants if you%26#39;re not keen to travel far across town at night.
