hello friends, i am looking to visit Germany with my wife and daughter. I am looking for recommendations for spending a week in Germany. Can you recommend what cities I should be visiting and how easy is it to get around those cities and staying, food etc?
Thank You
Chris

This is pretty impossible for us to pick a place for you to go. There is so much information on these forums, that it makes more sense for you to pick some cities that look attractive to you and that match your interests, then for us to try. Look at some guide books, spend a bit of time online.
It is easy to get around most cities with public transportation. In fact cars are a liability.
Food is reasonably priced everywhere.

Get a German Rail Pass (twin pass for you and your wife, what you daughter needs is due to her age) and just go everywhere! You could go to Munich, and do Munich, Ulm, Augsburg, Salzberg, Garmish=Partinkirchen by train; you could go to Cologne, and do any number of cities from there. Both are great cities, both are great bases from which to explore.
Germany is an easy place for travel. Plenty of reasonably priced food, clean and reasonably priced hotel rooms, good transportation, lots of castles, cathedrals, museums, zoos, and other good sights.

If I only had one week I would fly into Munich, spend about 2 days, visit Dachau, head south to Fussen to see Neuschwanstein, the Wieskirche, Oberammergau, Ettal, Linderhof, and into Garmisch. From Garmisch you can go to the Zugspitze, stroll the pedestrian platz, make a trip to Mittenwald and if time allows head over to Innsbruck.
I think you could spend a good 3-4 days in Garmisch/Fussen area. If time allows you could do a trip to Salzberg also.

Thank you for the recommendations. I am planning to visit Germany for 1 week. If I can visit few major cities and do day trips around those cities, that would be fine.
